Oil

I love painting with oils. Oil paints impart a certain luminosity to my work. Oil paints allow me to constantly improve my image. One can paint over or continually adjust their image until I am satisfied with my work.

My criteria vary depending on subject matter. When painting a portrait my primary goal is to achieve a likeness to my subject. I love to capture an individual's expressiveness, their character in addition to what the world sees. I enjoy painting mundane subjects and making them beautiful or giving the viewer the opportunity to see something with a new perspective, or to notice something they may never have seen.

I admire the work of John Sargent Singer. His paintings not only capture light they capture movement. One can actually feel the dancers movements and feel the rhythm of the music.
