Pastel
Pastel is my favorite medium. Pastel chalk and pencils are almost pure pigment giving my work an intense color and vibrancy.
Additionally my process creates a certain immediacy. Color is applied directly in layers rather than mixing the colors and then applying the mixture.
Apropos to a long history of artists learning and being inspired by our masters, as well as contemporary artists I have been inspired by Degas, Paul Cadmus and Maurice Quentin La Tour, to mention a few magnificent pastelists.
